Soulmate is the first collection designed by Martina Guandalini.
A story of love and psyche/spirit narrated by a harmonious dance between past and present, of two different materials such as plaster - obtained through the Scagliola technique that gives the elegant look of polished marble and resin that, when encountered, provide a graphic and architectural aspect that is sweet and compact at the same time.
This is why, according to the designer, an object must have a soul and a tale to tell.
Soulmate is a series of two table sculptures of different heights and a vase whose trait d’union is the link between an ancient material like marble and a contemporary one like resin.
The transparency of the resin through pastel colors marries the Scagliola technique which was born during the seventeenth century in Carpi – Martina’s city of origin – to create sacred furnishings.
The raw marble recalls an aerial image of the ocean which through the rectangular shape of the tables gives the perception of depth in a stylistic balance.
This is Soulmate: a unique, eternal, and aesthetically fascinating design.
